RACISM

Racism is the act of believing that one race is more superior than another. I mean really? Choosing one human over another is what you're doing. Everyone is equal. Why say just because of your skin color, you can be smart or dumb, poor or rich. It's just wrong. And not accurate. You don't judge people by the way they were born, they couldn’t help being the ethnicity that they are.

One big form of racial discrimination is between black and white people. This is not only in the U.S, it's in Africa and many more parts of the world. There was a time in American history where black people couldn’t go to the same people as whites. Different schools, water fountains, and cafes. In Africa, there was Apartheid, the time period from 1948-1994 where there was a lot of segregation between these two races. Nelson Mandela made a personal sacrifice by spending 27 years in jail to end this. To prove peoples racist theories wrong. All that work to open people's eyes to reveal to them the truth.

One of the most well known form of racism is slavery. I mean, think about it. There were no such things as white slaves. They were all African Americans

. And most masters were white. This is a very big separation. You clearly see the split between wealthy and poor, workers in poverty and masters with actual houses. You can't read people's minds and know their potential. That's what people are doing. They aren't trying to understand anyone, they're just making guesses, and guesses aren't right until you prove them to be.

I guess during the time we live in now, there are some improvements. We go to multiracial schools, and have access to the same places as other races. There are still things we have to clear up, for example, according to Dosomething.org, “In 2010, the U.S Sentencing Commission reported that African Americans receive 10% longer sentences than whites through the federal system for the same crimes.” In order to have a successful nation in the future, we have to fix the problems in society. Don’t be teaching your kids based on guesses that aren't accurate. We are empowering you to speak the truth and have a voice. If you don’t speak up, nothing will change.
