UNDERSTANDING ANIMAL ABUSE

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today we are going to be talking about animal abuse. The google definition for animal abuse is “Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse, animal neglect or animal cruelty, is the infliction by ommision or by commission by humans of suffering or harm upon any non-human.” Every 60 seconds an animal is abused. This is not ok, and we need to put a stop to this now.

Animal abuse around the world

Let's take a look at some numbers. According to dosomething.org 2.7 million dogs and cats are killed yearly because shelters are too full to accept them and there aren’t enough foster and adoptable homes for them. Only 1 out of 10 dogs are adopted and end up living with that same owner permanently. This is unacceptable. These animals deserve a chance to live with a family that loves and appreciates them. There has to be another solution other than just killing them.

How you can help put a stop to this

Now let’s talk about how you can help! Adopting! You can adopt an animal and be a responsible pet owner. If you feel like you want to help, but don’t want to make a permanent commitment, you could foster! Fostering pets is when you take care of an animal until they have a family to go to permanently. Another way you can help is to teach your younger siblings, your children, your friends, family, ect... to be gentle with animals and how they can treat them right. The more people that help, the faster it gets done! Finally, you can help by signing petitions! Signing petitions is actually very effective and it gets things done. Down below I will leave links to 2 petitions that you can sign! Thanks for reading!
