JOE BIDEN’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS SO FAR AS PRESIDENT

Recently, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States of America. In just the first 2 days of his presidency, he has done so much more than Donald Trump has done in 4 years, but what exactly did he accomplish? Biden signed a handful of executive orders that covered the coronavirus, the economy, equity, the environment, and immigration. In this post, I will be covering some of his several accomplishments.

Covid-19

Biden signed a number of executive orders to try to get covid under control.

These orders include:

• An order to establish the Pandemic Testing Board to expand US coronavirus testing capacity.
  

• An order to establish a program to boost the development of therapeutics in response to pandemic threats.
  

• An order calling on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to release clear guidance on Covid-19.
  

• An order calling on the OSHA to decide whether to establish emergency temporary standards.
  

• An order directing OSHA to enforce worker health and safety requirements.
  

• An order requiring mask-wearing in airports and on certain modes of transportation, including many trains, airplanes, maritime vessels, and buses.
  

• An order requiring international travelers to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test prior to coming to the US.
  

• An order stopping the United States' withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), with Dr. Anthony Fauci becoming the head of the delegation to the WHO.
  

The Economy

Biden also signed a bunch of orders to help the economy regain its strength, and so far he is making good progress. Some of the orders are:

• An order laying the foundation for a $15 minimum wage.
  

• An order extending the nationwide pause on evictions and foreclosures until at least March 31st.
  

• An order extending the pause on student loan payments and interest for people with federal student loans until at least September 30th.
  

• An order calling for assistance to those who are struggling to buy food, those missing out on the stimulus checks, or are unemployed.
  

Equity

He also put a few new rules in place to make sure that there is equity in America. Some of those laws include:

• An order getting rid of the Trump administration's 1776 Commission.
  

• An order directing agencies to review their actions to ensure racial equity.
  

• An order preventing workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  

• An order getting rid of the Trump administration’s law banning transgender people from serving in the military.
  

The Environment

Unlike Trump, Biden actually cares about the environment and climate change, so he has been trying to do his part in helping the effort to stop climate change. Those efforts include:

• An order rejoining the Paris climate accord.
  

• An order canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and direct agencies.
  

• Another order to reverse more than 100 harmful actions that Trump made on the environment.
  

Immigration

Trump had made it his goal to stop people from several countries from entering the US for no real reason at all. Thankfully, Biden is taking action to reverse those rules that Trump had put in place. Some of those actions include:

• An order stopping the construction of the border wall by terminating the national emergency declaration used to fund it.
  

• An order undoing Trump’s expansion of immigration enforcement within the United States.
  

• An order reversing the Trump administration’s restrictions on US entry for passport owners from seven Muslim-majority countries.
  

Trump has done so much damage to the United States of America in the 4 years of his presidency, and right now Biden is doing his best to try and fix the broken America that Trump had left him. Thankfully he is doing a good job, considering all of the achievements I have listed above were done within the first 2 days of his inauguration. If he can do that much in that little amount of time, imagine how much he can do in 4 years.
